This morning all the Firm’s lawyers had the pleasure of sharing the morning with a number of judicial members from a variety of Courts, both State and Federal, whilst overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Sheraton Mirage Hotel.

The breakfast was hosted by the Gold Coast District Law Association (GCDLA) and it followed the very successful inaugural Breakfast with the Judiciary held last year.  As with last year, the event was well supported by the Gold Coast legal profession and by the bench with many local Magistrates and District Court Judges from Southport attending, with a number of Family Law Judges making the trip down the M1 from Brisbane.

The initiative grew from a strong desire of the GCDLA for the local profession to break down the invisible barrier which exists between lawyers and judges.  It is often forgotten that those sitting up on the bench were once lawyers themselves.

Each of the Judicial members that attended were invited to the stage and in an Ellen DeGeneres style interview, they were each asked a series of unique questions ranging from what was their first job in law to how they maintain a healthy work/life balance.  All the judges were generous in openly answering the questions and providing tips for the younger members of the profession.

Partner, Dean Evans (who is also the Vice President of the GCDLA), did a wonderful job interviewing Judge Jarrett of the Federal Circuit Court and Justices Baumann, Forrest and Hogan of the Family Court who all deal with family law issues and are based out of the Brisbane Registry.

The Firm thanks the GCDLA and all the Judges and their Associates who made the breakfast another resounding success.
